[A parody-slightly adapted – of Ordinary Day by Dolores O’ Riordan of Cranberries fame.

For the unsure and the hurting

[C152 SV66]

This is just an ordinary day

Won’t you be my guide along the way?

Things are often different than they seem

Help me to be strong and still to stand

Be the focus of all my waking dreams

Hold me tightly with your wounded hand

Glorious One,

Ever be my inspiration

Glorious One

I know your love abounds

Nothing at all, nothing at all

Will ever stop your loving

Glorious One, Glorious One,

You’ll never let me down

Never let me down.

This is not an ordinary day

It is one that I’ve designed and made

I will be your shield and be your guide

If you cling to me I’ll help you stand

In the shelter of my wing you’ll hide

Hold on tightly to my wounded hand

Beautiful Child

Let me be your inspiration

Beautiful Child

You know my love abounds

Nothing at all, nothing at all

Will ever stop me loving

Beautiful Child, beautiful Child

I’ll never let you down

Never let you down.

[What does God feel about our free will? How do we feel about our kids who don’t seem to have a relationship with God the Father? I imagine Fleetwood Mac could answer that question.

Parody: Fleetwood Mac: You can go your own way (What a song!)]

Loving you

Unconditionally

How can I ever change just

Who I am?

I just long

Dear Child, to give you my love

But how can I

When you won’t take it from me?

You can go your own way:

Don’t go away!

You can use your

Free will, yes you can

You can go your own way

Don’t go away!

You know Me

You know what I have done

Dying and

Rising up, ascending to heaven

I just long

Dear child, to give you my love

Open up

I stand here waiting for you.

You could go your own way

Please say you’ll stay

You can use your

Free will, yes you can;

You could go your own way:

Please say you’ll stay

Luke 15 tells the parable that we know as The Prodigal Son. However, the context suggests to me that it is more about the Father than the son. The Father seems to watch out for the son, and is overjoyed when he returns, and he calls for a celebration. How did the Father feel before the son returned? I am sure he grieved over the absent son. The son, on the other hand, enjoyed himself until he had nothing. His pride and desire for independence were eventually overcome; and then he returned. And the Father was ready for him, and ran to meet him; he didn’t wait all dignified until the son came in the gate. No, he was so eager to meet him that he ran.

Here we have a “prodigal daughter”. The name Christine means “belonging to Christ”. The Father waits and longs for her return . . .]

It’s been such a long time, daughter, since you called
You try so hard to keep your feelings walled.
Call me, please, my daughter, call.

Come to me again, daughter, come to me again;
Sit on my knee, little girl, and tell me your pain;
Call me, my daughter, call again.

Where are you running? Why do you flee?
You try this, you try that, but never feel free;
Call me, my daughter, call me.

My heart bleeds, my daughter, it bleeds.
I want you to know I can meet all your needs:
So call me, my daughter, call me.

Stop running, my daughter, don’t hide;
My arms and heart are open: come inside:
So call me, my daughter, call me.

You’re not alone, my daughter, not alone;
And here with me — this is your home —
Whatever you do, and wherever you may be
Please call me, my daughter, call me.

Luke 15:11- 24

Luke 15:1-10

Luke 15:7 In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine respectable people who do not need to repent.

Luke 15:10  In the same way, I tell you, the angels of God rejoice over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 13:34  “Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets, you stone the messengers God has sent you! How many times I wanted to put my arms around all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not let me!”

Mat 23:37  “Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and stone the messengers God has sent you! How many times I wanted to put my arms around all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not let me

John 8:10  He straightened up and said to her, “Where are they? Is there no one left to condemn you?”  “No one, sir,” she answered. “Well, then,” Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go, but do not sin again.”
