[This is a parody of Here with Me by Dido Armstrong off the   No Angel Album.

In the Valley – and even out of it – people need to be reassured that God loves them. God promises us that His love is unchanging & everlasting. God’s address book must be light-years thick because His love is not just some kind of “I love all humanity” generalised type of love; God knows each one of us by name.  He’s interested in us; He goes after the lost sheep, He finds us, brings us home. Our previous minister used to say, “God is nuts about you.” It’s hard enough to die for someone who is living; imagine dying for someone nearly 2000 years before that person is born. I reckon that qualifies as “nuts” about us.

Maybe we should realise that we’re really meant to be marsupials, and need to rest in Christ, like Joey Kangaroo in Mommy Kangaroo’s pouch. God is our shield 24/7 and never takes a break. At 03h15 He’s still there, whether you’re sleeping or not.

I believe that only Jesus can heal the past, because His sameness transcends time. ]

I know you by your name
My love is constant, still the same
And I will speak the words, and I’ll heal your memories

Yes, I Am Who I Am,
My love has no end
My love can’t  hide
And I won’t go; I won’t sleep
And I won’t cease until your rest is in Me
I won’t let go; and  I won’t sleep
And I will not cease until your rest is in Me

Your name is on my palms
Your times are safely  in my hands
My plans are for your good, that must be understood

Yes, I Am Who I Am
My love has no end
My love can’t  hide
And I won’t go; I won’t sleep
And I will not cease until your rest is in Me
I won’t let go; and I won’t sleep
And I will not cease until your rest is in Me

I Am still on  My Throne
Let your world be still before Me
I will pour out peace, if you will only listen to Me

Yes, I Am Who I Am,
My love has no end
My love can’t  hide
And I won’t go; I won’t sleep
And I will not cease until your rest is in Me
I won’t let go; and  I won’t sleep
And I will not cease until your rest is in Me

John 15:4 – 7 Remain united to me, and I will remain united to you. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself; it can do so only if it remains in the vine. In the same way you cannot bear fruit unless you remain in me.  I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me.

Jn 10:3 He calls his own sheep by name
Jer 31:3  “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

PS 6:2 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony
Jer 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise
Lk 7:7Just speak the word, and my servant will be healed.

Ex 3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM
Ps 121:4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Ps 62:1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
Ps 62:5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
MT 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Isa 49:16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
Ps 31:15 My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies
and from those who pursue me.
Jer 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Rev 5:13 “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
Rev 5:14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped
Rev 7:10 “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
Psalm  85:8 I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints

[Parody: Dido (Armstrong): Don’t leave Home

Even Stalin recognised the importance of hope. In the midst of World War II he permitted religion (the so-called “opium of the masses”) in the USSR so that people would see something beyond their present suffering. It is hope that enables us to face tomorrow, accept today and forgive ourselves for yesterday. Depriving the Valley-dwellers of hope is one of satan’s favourite tricks; and we easily fall prey to that. Easter establishes hope as a fact. So we need hope as the anchor of our lives (Hebr6:19). It’s not our feelings which count, but what Jesus has done. It has taken me years to realise this — and I sometimes still get it wrong!]
Though the cloud is dark ahead,
Don’t believe that Hope is dead.
While the night may close you in,
When the Sun comes you will sing.

Deliverance is close at hand,
For you have fought well and can stand
And since you’ve put my armour on,
Despite your weakness, you are strong

So, child, don’t lose Hope;  Child, don’t lose Hope
When you’re lost, I will guide you;
If you bleed, I will bind you;
My Rising is your guarantee:
So, my child, don’t lose Hope

In any battles you may face
Trust completely in my Grace
And though your life may seem uphill,
I am still with you, love you still

So, child,  don’t lose Hope; Child, don’t lose Hope
When you’re lost, I shall guide you;
If you bleed, I will bind you;
My Rising is your guarantee:
So, my child, don’t lose Hope

Because you sought my heart divine,
The blood that covers you is mine;
Yes, I’ve laid down my life for you
And all my promises hold true.

So, child, don’t lose Hope; Child, don’t lose Hope
When you’re lost I will guide you;
If you bleed, I’ll bind you;
My Rising is your guarantee:
So, my child, don’t lose Hope

Oh how radiant you will be
When you reign in heaven with me.
The battle’s done; and you’re in my care;
So there’s just no need now  to despair.

Because
When you’re lost I shall guide you;
If you bleed, I will bind you;
My Rising is your guarantee:
Oh my child, don’t lose Hope

My Rising is your guarantee:
My Rising is your guarantee:
Oh my child, don’t lose Hope

[Tune: Dido (Armstrong): White Flag

[ In the world’s view being “down on one’s knees usually has negative connotations: surrender, giving up, quitting. For the Christian being “down on my knees” suggests prayer, submission to God, reverence. So we need to get down on knees when we feel circumstances are bringing us to our knees. God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness — if we let it. We also need to reflect that, we have been adopted as sons/daughters, and that NOTHING can change that, no matter how we feel. God IS present in the Valley, even when we can’t/won’t see Him.]

I know You love me in spite of anything that I may  do
And I know You love me in spite of anything that can ever happen to me
I‘ll take my stand on Your own Word and trust You to the ending of my life

I may be down on my knees, but I won’t put my hands up and surrender:
There will be no turning back from the plough;
I’m Your child and always will be!

I know that whatever comes my way is only with Your permission
And I know that I can do all things  if You strengthen me to do them
I won’t deny the  realities of life, and I shall still cling to You

I may be down on my knees, but I won’t put my hands up and surrender:
There will be no turning back from the plough;
I’m Your child and always will be!

I know that You won’t expect from me more than I can bear
And I know that whatever may happen I am always in Your loving care
You’ve promised salvation and victory, and I believe in it, no matter what

I may be down on my knees, but I won’t put my hands up and surrender:
There will be no turning back from the plough;
I’m Your child and always will be!

At the end of time You’ll call me home
And I will stand before Your throne
And I shall be dressed in white
I know that You have won my fight

I may be down on my knees, but I won’t put my hands up and surrender:
There will be no turning back from the plough;
I’m Your child and always will be!

You know I love you in spite of anything that you may  do
And you know I love you in spite of anything that can ever happen to you
You’ve taken your stand on My Word and entrusted Me with your life

You may be down on your knees but don’t  put your hands up and surrender:
There will be no going back on my Word;
You’re My child and always will be!

At the end of time I’ll call you home
And you will stand before My throne
And you will be dressed in white
You’ll know that I have won your  fight

You may be down on your knees but don’t  put your hands up and surrender:
There will be no going back on my Word;
You’re My child and always will be!
